When Javier Reyes of Animals As Leaders started putting out solo material it was, without a doubt, a brow raiser. Jump forward to present day. If you have been keeping up with Javier then you should know that he has not only released an EP under the name Mestis, but has also put out a full length album. Polysemy was released mid 2015 through Sumerian. While still being instrumental 8 string prog, I can not emphasis how much this is NOT AAL Part2. Mestis manages to stand on it's own, and differs from what you would hear on an Animals As Leaders release. With Mestis, the atmosphere is more calm. Polysemy is chock full of Classical, and Spanish influence, showcasing Reyes' roots as a guitar player. In this video Javier performs a "Waltz For The 8 String Guitar", talks a bit about his signature ESP, and then closes with his track Semilla.
